Online Carnatic Music - Intermediate Level
By the end of the foundation course, the student will be able to persue the next level which will mould the student to become a concert performer. The time and work of both the student and the teacher is very much important during this course.
A new musical form varnam[in Adi tala only] is introduced in this course which prepares the student to handle intricate nuances and subtle gamakas of the particular raga in which the varnam is composed. Moreover the student is taught to handle the most important musical form kriti[madhyama kala kritis only] which are elaborate compositions rich in raga, bhava and tala aspects. This is the stage at which a student should cultivate a regular habit of hearing the performances of legendary as well as other professional singers and instrumental players. All these issues will be guided by the teacher during this course. This course will make the student sing fluently the kritis and makes them familiar with the raga identification thereby helping them out to persue the next level.
We offer 3 levels in this intermediate course.
Introduction of the musical form varnam therefore enhancing the voice culture and teaching the subtle nuances of raga handling. Learns to sing Kritis of simple nature.
Learning experience:
Should have completed the 3 levels in the foundation course.
OrShould be able to sing the varisais, geethams, swara jatis and jati swarams perfectly with akarams:
Portions covered during this course:The Lakshana of these ragas should be taught to the student. The teacher should note that the kritis should be in different talas, languages and should cover different composers The compositions in these ragas should be mentioned and the student should be motivated to listen to the raga alapana as well as the compositions in the raga which would help the student during the introduction of manodarma or creative music.
The Duration of this course is assumed to be 6 months[8 classes per month]. But it will depend on the performance and progress of the student. The liberty to decide the time duration of the course for a individual student vests with the teacher.
Level 2Learns further more varnams and kritis in tougher ragas enhancing the voice culture. Introduces a new musical form Jawali.
Learning experience:
Should have completed the foundation level and level 1 in the intermediate course
Or
Should be able to sing 5 varnams in 2 speeds.

The teacher should note that the kritis should be in different talas, languages and should cover different composers. The compositions in these ragas should be mentioned and the student should be motivated to listen to the raga alapana as well as the compositions in the raga which would help the student during the introduction of manodarma or creative music.

Level 3Learns varnams and kritis in more complex ragas enabling the student to handle them accurately. A new musical form called Tillana is introduced.
